How I Help:
Counseling in NYC

Therapy Is a Conversation. We’ll Figure Things Out Together.
Psychotherapy and counseling in New York City and Florida, held virtually, for individuals, couples, and families.
You don’t need to arrive with a perfectly defined problem or know exactly what you want from therapy.
You may know what brought you here. Or you may simply have the sense that something in your life isn’t working the way you want it to.
Either way, we’ll start there.

My approach is collaborative, thoughtful, and shaped around you.

Together, we'll look beyond the surface to understand what influences how you feel and how you move through your life.
My Approach
Thoughtful
We'll look beyond the immediate problem to understand the patterns, relationships, and experiences influencing your life today.
Collaborative
You won't be handed a formula or told how to live your life. We'll make sense of what you're experiencing together.
Curious
Instead of judging a thought, feeling, or behavior, we'll become interested in what it might be telling us.
Personal
There is no predetermined script. The work develops around your history, your relationships, and what you want from your life.
What Sessions Are Like
Curious what to expect? Here is what my sessions are like.
You talk. We listen together.
There’s no script you need to follow and no right way to do therapy. You can bring in what happened this week, something you’ve been thinking about for years, a conflict with your partner, a memory, a question, or simply the feeling that something is off.
We pay attention to patterns.
Over time, we may begin to notice connections between experiences that initially seemed unrelated. How you respond to conflict. What happens when you feel disappointed. The expectations you place on yourself. The roles you take on in relationships.
We get curious about the cause.
Instead of asking only, “How can I stop feeling this way?” we might also explore, “Why does this affect me this way?”
Understanding the answer can change what becomes possible.

We work together.
I won’t sit silently and expect you to do all the work, nor will I tell you how you should live your life.
I’ll listen carefully, ask questions, offer observations, and help you consider perspectives you may not have seen on your own.
Session Types
1
Individual Therapy
A private space to explore what’s happening in your life, understand yourself more fully, and work through the patterns or experiences keeping you from living the way you want to.
2
Couples Therapy
A place to slow down the conflicts that keep repeating, understand what each of you brings to the relationship, and find effective ways to communicate and connect.
3
Family Therapy
An opportunity to look at the dynamics affecting the family as a whole, improve communication, and understand the patterns that may be keeping family members stuck.

Meeting with Robert was fantastic! Truly so kind, and listens well. I appreciated all of the time spent and look forward to coming to him again in the future! It was so helpful that we were able to work together Virtually as well!

Robert is a very good therapist. He is compassionate, stays very focused; he is honest and an effective communicator. I would recommend trying Robert as your therapist / teletherapy, as he has helped me during a very difficult time.
Benjamin
Robert gets you energetic and involved during Teletherapy. He relieves you of uncertainties and relaxes you from stress. One of, if not the best psychiatrist I have ever met.
